Courses Regularly Offered
HUM 101 and 102 – Introduction to the Humanities
In these courses we study the things that make us better humans! Our culture, art,
music, philosophy, religion, literature, architecture, and other things are presented
in a historical context. These classes are offered both on campus and online. The
courses are arranged chronologically. HUM 101 focuses on the ancient world up through
the late middle ages and 102 continues beginning with the Renaissance up through the
present day. Both courses use the same text.
PHL 106 – Introduction to Philosophy
An introduction to the basic concepts of philosophy which will give students an understanding
of the great philosophers and their ideas from the time of the ancient Greeks through
modern times and how their ideas figure in making ethical decisions. This course is
available on campus or online.
PHL 206 – Ethics and Society
This course considers ethical issues which confront individuals in their their daily
lives. The focus is on questions of right and wrong. Lively discussions and debates
are regulars feature of this course. This course is available on campus or online.
PHL 210 – Ethics and the Health Sciences
This course is a study of ethical issues related to the health sciences and is offered
online.
REL 100 – History of World Religions
A study of the practices of the world’s major religions including their origins and
beliefs.
REL 151 – Survey of the Old Testament
This course emphasizes the historical and cultural significance as well as contemporary
theological study of the Old Testament.
REL 152 – Survey of the New Testament
This course emphasizes the historical and cultural significance as well as contemporary
theological study of the New Testament.
